Source of Light

Getting up in the morning is getting harder and harder. I need me some sun! Waking up in the dark is really not my thing. I guess that's why I have been so into dark images lately. Shadows contrasting the light. The light. The light.

The light moments:

My good friend is having her first baby in May! It's going to be a boy. I saw the 3D ultrasounds yesterday and he is already adorable. Sucking his thumb, hand over his eye. So cute. He is going to get lots of squishies from auntie Genie when he finally emerges. Into the light. :)

My other good friend is in love. She yearns for husband and family, and I so wish those things for her. She is a loving person and I am glad she has found someone worthy. I haven't met him yet, but I can tell :) It's so cute. She has this befuddled, love-struck expression. Looking at her, reminds me of what that felt like from the inside. Her face is alight with happiness. :)

My goddaughter had her first slow dance with a boy this weekend. I think she likes him. I can tell by the sparkle in her eye. Her face lit up when she told me about it. It has begun. I wish her well in her travels through infatuation and love. :)

Seeing my students learn and be engaged in their learning and whatever their young minds are creating makes me happy. It's like watching 30 light bulbs go on at the same time. Beautiful. :)

Every time I log on to my blog and read all your comments, your gifts of encouragement and support, my hearts glows with gratitude.

These are my sources of light in the darkness. It is very important to find them in each of our lives, especially in this time of year. When it is darkest. When it is coldest. When it seems like it will be frozen forever.

What are your sources of light even in the darkest hours?

May you have many of them :)

Blessed be :)

P.S. Don't forget to check out my new blog-zine Ola! Moana. The link is on th top left sidebar :)

Reading blogs like yours. Creating my blog. Giving and receiving comments (connection is highly important to me). All these cats around here (10 inside, 1 outside). MY HUBBY AND DAUGHTER and all the laughing that we do together! Hubby was away for 4 days and returned last night. We were laughing about this and that. Those two are my sun and my moon!

Sources of light...

Those moments, consciously noticed, when I say, "this is good." Children piled up in a hug. A good show on tv (finally!) 3500 words in my novel. A good snail mail day. A wonderful blog comment. Watching the little guys develop and grow. Dancing to sesame street. A home made dinner that comes out well and that everyone will actually eat. Every little drop in the bucket gets me through the darkness.

Oh yeah, and remembering that I live in FLORIDA now, and that I need to get out of my head and get out of the house and step outside every once in a while, where things smell like flowers and all you need is a sweater.

Genie,

I may be the anomaly here....i LOVE the cold weather! I am in heaven right now wishing for more snow because one of the things i love most is that in winter there is nothing more beautiful than to see the moon reflect LIGHT off of that beautiful white, virgin canvas. i'm a nester and so i love the whole hibernation thing in winter but also love being outdoors. the summers? eh, i can take it or leave it...

i liked this post very much....the different ways light comes into our lives. just lovely. nicely done, Miss G!

Love your light and dark images. Lots of contrast to catch the eye. It seems that the same can be said of lights and darks in our lives as well. When you have darkness next to light, the light seems so much more brighter and we take notice. When we have trials and hard times, the blessings or light that comes later seem much more brighter. Our appreciation of the light grows.

I also really love this piece... i need the sun very much... and well we live in Germany right now, and let's just say you don't see that blessed sun much in the winter here. my children are my source of light... and painting.

Your blog brings me light too. I also get "light" from prayer, upbeat music, a good book, walks with my dogs, window shopping, hugs from my kids, coffee, chocolate...I could go on all day!

When I visted Las Vegas this last summer there was a 90 degree night where I stood on the strip and watched all the thousands of flashbulbs going off. But just behind the Eiffel tower was the Moon, full and radiating this incredible electric blue--that's what you and your blog home make me think of! Thank you for being a constant font of inspiration. :)

Much Joy, Many Blissings~*

Hi - thanks for visiting my blog. Enjoyed browsing through yours - and the light thing. I'm SO there with you. I always think of my daffodils under the ground getting ready to pop through - how they need the dark to gather their energy. Right now my light is the flame on my burner that helps me make beads. Just give me the flame baby (and no blow ups). Tammy Vitale

Tammy! :) Welcome to my blog! Ah! The promise of daffodils! May your flame be strong and harmless :)
