Dreams May Come

As March begins, a new theme begins in Leah's Creative Everyday art-fest - Dreams!

I painted the above in photoshop to represent the ever-illusive, nebulous state of dreams I have been in lately. I know I dream, but because my sleeping patterns have been, to say the least, unpredictable, these dreams escape through my fingers as soon as I open my eyes.

My history with dreams has been a vivid one. I have had cinematic dreams where I am a spy, or am solving mysteries of ghosts, or become embroiled in a passionate love affair, from meeting to parting, from tears to supreme joy. I have directed musicals in my dreams complete with original score.

I have had dreams of terror with serial killers, or monsters chasing me. Those wake me in a cold sweat and don't happen frequently, thankfully.

I have gone in elevators that move sideways and diagonally, or up way beyond the last floor. I have flown in my dreams, and visited realms that can only exist in my imagination. I have spoken languages I don't speak awake.

I dream in color.

I have had prophetic dreams of places, and people and events. I have had dreams of past lives. I have visited with people who are no longer living, in my dreams, and people who have yet to live.

I would sleep in anticipation of what dreams may come.

I need to reconnect with my dreams. It's necessary! I have to make that my intention before I sleep, rather than just fall, exhausted, into my bed. Hopefully through this project, I can settle into dream patterns again. The magical kind, not just the kind where I work out the things that have happened or bothered me during the day.

"To sleep, perchance to dream..." (Hamlet 3.1.73)

Dream sweet my lovelies :)

I have always been a BIG dreamer too, Genie, until recently when I have been plagued by those damn "unpredictable" sleep patterns. I miss dreaming those rich dreams that I used to have every night, and when I do have a good night, where I have travelled far in my own mind, it feels like a gift ! I love the use of intention you have chosen ! I have been using deep breathing as part of my nightly ritual which helps a lot of the time to get me to sleep. I am going to add in a "sweet dreams" mantra/wish to it tonight and see what happens !
Thanks for the inspiration !

I find it fascinating that you dream of past lives. Actually, I find ALL your dreams fascinating.
Do you keep a dream journal? You should!

Another great art work of art Genie...and LOVE the title of this post!

hello my sweet genie, firstly I apologize for not coming around the past few days...a bit laid up but your paintings are all so beautiful...I love this dream painting, it's perfect for "dreams" and your post was incredible!

I hardly remember my dreams excepting once in awhile...sadly...but when I do, they seem always to be exceptional...thanks for the inspiration this morning, dear one.

I dream in color to, but my dad thinks I'm crazy when I say that!! He says it's not possible, yet I do it! I have dreamed of myself reciting poetry to huge crowds only to wake with a new poem!

Your topic has excited my brain dear Genie!!

Your dream topics sound really interesting, Genie. I was wondering too if you keep a dream journal? I do but I get lazy at writing my dreams in it. I dream in colour too and I also daydream a lot.

Your dreams painting is wonderful and dreamy ~ :)

love, light and peace,

I've been having lots of vivid dreams lately; something in the air, or the moon phase maybe?

They say that dreams are the way the subconscious works out problems and worries for us while we're sleeping. Maybe you are feeling pretty balanced right now?

Do you keep a dream journal? Maybe it would help you figure out the ebb & flow of your dreaming-- when its most active and when it's not.

I like to look at tarot cards before bedtime to help inspire dreams. :-)

You mean that dreaming in color isn't the norm?

Dreams are such fun - most of the time. Where else can we speak strange languages - fly, with or without wings - breath under water - or save the world?

Sweet dreams,my dear - and don't bite the bedbugs!

Sometimes I can't wait to go to bed because I want to go into my dream world. Flying, visiting other planets, visiting with relatives who have transitioned... I am one of those weirdos ;-) who puts a lot of stock in my dreams. It's like crossing over into another reality. Maybe it really is?

Love your art for this post!

I can relate--when I'm stressed or overbooked, it can never seem to get a hold of my dreams. They can be sneaky like that. I hope this month you are able to relish in your surreal sleep wanderings! :)

Much Joy, Many Blissings~*

We dream quite similar! Maybe I'll find you tonight as I float upside down on the wind....make sure you wave!

As for the serial killers and monsters chasing you...those are just all my weird attractors from Facebook. They crossed over into your world. =)

Kim - I hope the sweet dreams mantra worked! I know I dreamt last night, but I recall nothing. I woke up in the middle of the night, from a dream, thought, "remember this" but I didn't. I'll keep trying :)

BohoMama - Thank you sweetie :) I don't keep a dream journal. I remember a lot of my dreams in detail. I have scribbled down dreams here and there. I will try a dream journal during March break, when I am not rushing out of here like a bat out of the subway tunnel :)

Barbara - Thank you; and Welcome to my blog! We're not alone in the dream scape :)

Linda - Please don't apologize :) I'm not keeping tabs :) I hope you're feeling better. It seems the exceptional dreams are the ones we remember. Thank you so much for your compliments on my painting. It means a lot :)

Caro- Thank you honey :) I'm glad about Leah's choice of focus too! :) Here's to reconnecting :)

Tori - I hope you find exciting dreams again too! :)

Tabby - That's awesome! You're a dream-time poet! That's lovely :)

Odd Chick - Thank you :) Here's to the return of dreams! :)

Serena - I daydream a lot too. :) I don't keep a dream journal. I'm not a morning person, so the less I do in the morning the better for me. LOL!

(intothe)Dawn - Yeah one explanation for dreams is the subconscious working things out. I think there are different kinds of dreams for different purposes. I like the idea of noting the ebb and flow of my dreams! I will consider it. Thank you :)

Judi - LOL! No, actually dreaming in color isn't the norm :) Thank you honey! I'm too busy biting the heads off iGoddess' frogs to bother with bedbugs :) hehehe You crack me up. :)

Shannan - Welcome to the club of weirdos then. I think I am a founding member. LOL I think it is a portal into parallel universes.

Molly - Thank you sweetie! I miss my dreamscapes :)

Jess - Thank you so much! :)

Ms. Scorpio - It's true. Maybe we do have dreamscape adventures! :) LMAO@ weird Facebook Attractors. Keep 'em on your side of the fence! :) hehe

Tammie - My dreamscape is also your blog. :)

Caroline - Thank you sweetie :)

Hey Genie! Been a little busy lately and missed the "drama" from the other day. Know that if you are prone to depression, the "demon" will sneak up on you from time to time and you have to use all you know to fight it off. Believe me, I know :-) Anyhoo, I'm in love with this image!!!!

Dreams are fascinating arnt they ? I love to interpret my dreams and they usually are pretty acurate as to how and why i am dreaming whatever it is at the time to what the interpretation is.
You are right to reconnect with your dreams it sounds like you have amazing subconscious and dream in technicolour. Mine are not as spectacular bur sometimes very memorable
Thanks as always my friend for your comments and for your support too
