Let the Wrecking Begin!
Yes! I might have started modestly, but I have started! I drew a heart on the cover because I am loving this process already. Its setting is my handbag where it resides for more inspired wrecking! :)
The night before, I slept with it under my pillow. I thought that would be a fitting beginning. That night, I had an adventure dream that involved rescuing some people from a mountainous region that was near the ocean, yet in the city. Go figure :)
Then I cracked open the spine (literally) and began writing on pages without direction. These scribblings will be augmented over time.
It doesn't look like much, but I am sure I don't have to explain to a lot of you what it took for me to even do that!
Yet, that released the fear of defacing a book, and so my journey began with little steps, yet huge ones.
On my way out the door, I saw these wonderful chives growing in my garden, so I decided to grab one and take it on the Wrecking journey.
It makes the book smell like baked potato with chives. I might even smush in some sour cream to complete the effect!
This beauty isn't going to be lonely much longer. I am definitely adding some more found friends for Ms. Chive :)
And more wrecking! The colorful page was done by my friend Ellie. I gave it to her along with a box of markers and looked away. Now, that's trust! And look at the awesome result :) You can see the page underneath as she cut strips out to make this colorful flower. It's the prettiest page so far :) Sweet destruction!
And last but not least....
This is my guerrilla sticker page! I call it that because I did some surreptitious sticker stealing at the grocery while I was shopping! I felt like a total criminal taking stickers and then placing them in my book, but it enhanced the delicious rebellion of the whole act.
When I have some time, I will be enhancing these pages with more wrecking. I can't wait to drop the book and hang it in a public place for defacing. Those two activities make my spine tingle with fear and excitement!
I hope everyone is having great fun with this and I can't wait to see what tasty destruction they have been up to here!

OMG you are cracking me up with the stealing of the fruit stickers!!! And it is so interesting to me that you can't wait to hang it in a public place -- that is my huge FEAR page. I looooove the heart you drew on the cover -- loooovely!!!
Just happy wrecking wrecking to you!!
:)
and miracles too of course,
k-
Love this wrecking idea. It reminds me of altered books where you take a regular book and change it. But this seems to be even more freeing than altered books. Looks so much fun! You go girl!
Go Genie!!!!!
I only have a few stickers so far, never thought of just bring the book with me to the produce section.....hmmmm.
Your pics are awesome! I've been too tame after a whole life of "respecting the book".
I have to let loose more....like you!
It appears you are having a joyful time dear friend and that fills me with joy!
Wreck On!!
Perfect wrecking going on there, genie ! I love your sticker theft. I find fruit stickers very insulting somehow - much better in your book than on my apples!!!
Enjoy your adventures!
I really really want to get this journal. How fun! Enjoy the wrecking :)
You know me enough to know my eyes were immediately drawn to ... the bag. :D I love bags. Yours is really pretty.
Guerrilla Girl! I love it!!! Okay a book that smells like a baked potato and chives is AWESOME!!!
I think your new name should be BraveHeart!
You're off to a great and fun looking start! I can't believe I forgot to peel the stickers off the fruit when I was at the grocery store this week! Can't wait to see what you do next!
Where did you find the page about fruit stickers LOL!I will have to steal too....oh no! and to hang my book in a public place I have a good idea...
I need to add my entry but I am so enjoying watching others totally destroy a book...
He He .... That's exactly how I planned to get a bunch of produce stickers!!
Ah,yes .... a group of amateur hooligans .... discovering the joys of ditching our two goody shoes!
I LOVE this!!!!!! And I think you will do it a lot of justice!
Like Paula - I'm drooling over your bag. ----- Raises a glass of merlot in toast to your wreckage.
*clink*
Love the heart & the stickers, too! Doesn't that feel rebellious? It would to me, too :)
I've enjoyed seeing this coming up, & thinking of getting in on the act -
Hehe. I already have a planned fruit sticker shoplifting spree planned for myself today... Glad to read that I'm not the only one experiencing criminal desires as a result of this project!
I love it! you are having so much fun.. simply adore the chives but if I were you I would stay away from the sour cream.. that would not smell that nice after awhile :)... maybe pretend with white paint..
Love that you stole the stickers.:)

I am so glad you are having fun wrecking your journal. I have already wrecked mine. I did it about a year ago. You can see the pics on my blog under the label "wrecked journal" (obviously). ha ha :)
Fabulous! I'm feeling SOOOO inspired, seeing/reading your experience and the experiences of others. This is so much fun!
LOL! Sticker stealing! Oh, my ... wrecking and stealing ... what are WE coming too! ;D Let the games begin!
haha! the guerrilla sticker stealing totally cracked me up! hehe!
Guess what I did at the grocery store???? This book is more about adventure than destruction I think!
:-)
Wow Genie, you are taking bites from all over the journal.
There is something so free about your handwriting and check marks over the first few pages, the words seem so loose and easy. I love the tone it sets for you.
Free! Red! Ease!
Beautiful.
OH....such awesome FUN!!! Love your guerilla sticker page! :)
Brilliant --you sticker thief, you!!
And yes, I totally GET it!!!
May the wrecking continue!!!
P.S. There's going to be a crime wave of fruit sticker theft sweeping the globe....:)
Oh my! Thank you all for your wonderful encouragement and enthusiasm! This is what's making this journey even more funtastic! :)
Bravery comes in small steps! Congratulations on your courage and making a bold, delicious and colourful start! Yay!
Thank you for sharing your journey! I am loving the sticker theft. Our supermarkets seem to have stopped using them so i am going to have to do some serious sticker hunting in order to practice any theft....
Thank you also for your kind comment... It was only chance that made me do what I did first and I am still cringing a little...
This online book club is making laugh and giggle more often than normal...and I LOVE to laugh!
As I witness others destroy their journal, I become excited about the potential new pages that I will discover.
As someone who hesitates to scribble out a line in my journal - I uber appreciate this effort ;)
awesome job! I don't think your work so far has been "modest" by any stretch. You are totally digging in, girl. Awesome!
Oh, this is fabulous! I esp. love the sticker-stealing (shh! I won't tell anyone!) Now _that_ is some serious rebellion! Also really love the chive - quite beautiful!
Stealing fruit stickers - I wonder what kind of crime that would be considered. Something juicy to document in your wrecked journal, for sure!
I love the heart on the front. It's a lovely touch. Great wrecking! :)
Love the sticker theft! I've been working on mine for awhile and still could stand to add some stickers (I even resorted to adding vegetable stickers too).
the sticker story is too good! that is awesome!! and i dig your heart on the front!!
Your book looks great! I like the chives. You also have a great collection of fruit stickers. So far, I have 8 of the same apple sticker- ha ha!
W O W !!!!
yes with capitals !
you are having fun!
yay for you!
love to see how you are wrecking!! looks good, looks very good!!
How funny - I put a little heart on the cover of my journal too! I love what you have done so far, especially the stickers! I love that. I'm feeling more and more brave as I do ever more daring Wrecks!
Congrats!
