The last time I went on "vacation" was two years ago when I went to Perry Sound for my friend's wedding.
The last time I was on a plane was to go to Philly almost 10 years ago.
Really.
That won't do!
It's very hard making ends meet being single with a home on a fixed income. The bills keep piling up and the house always needs something done. A vacation has become the "frivolous" expense that has fallen by the wayside.
But really, a vacation shouldn't be a frivolous expense! People need to step away from their daily routines, their "real" lives, and explore other places, new experiences, exciting adventures. And not just in their heads. Travel rejuvenates. Travel expands. Travel enriches.
So today, this is what I wish for!
My dream destinations? I made a mosaic!

My realistic destination?
A week in Halifax.

Being a Sagittarius, I have this inbred NEED to travel, and I easily get bored if I stay in one place and live one routine for more than a couple years. That's one thing I miss about the Navy - I always had somewhere else to go when my time was up...

Haha! You're hilarious! I'm sure Halifax is just as fabulous a trip. Everyone I know who has been out east has said great things about it and the people there.

Genie, it's all in where you sit, because to me, Halifax would be a far destination and certainly a holiday for me!
And, that last tile of your mosaic, that very last tile? I got to see that for myself in person and it made me cry to realize I was standing there seeing it in real and not just the myriad of pictures I had seen of it. Oh, that's the best.
So, today as we wish for you, feel the tears prickle behind your eyelids as you thrill to realize that you're seeing your beloved and hoped for sites...because

Adventures don't need to be so very distant - and vacations need only be a step outside the norm.

I think you are going to have an awesome time during your week in Halifax! I know you'll get to all those other places one day as well. When you get to Miyajima just beware the deer!

When I think of you taking a holiday I think of the movie Under the Tuscan sun because I think if you landed in any of your dream destinations you would not go back! I definitely think you deserve a fabulous holiday no matter what and I will help to manifest it for you!

Mama, I'm here finally to get caught up! I've been away from my blogfriends for so long!
Love your mosaic of places to visit. Love them. Like you, it's been way too long since I've taken a vacation (the last time hubby and I went on vacation was 1997!) Life, bills, can't coordinate our holidays together, always something. And it's terrible because we should put away for a vacation each year and treat that as a priority also. The Spanish believe in this and my in-laws have never skipped a year of vacation (and theirs lasts for 1-2 months) in all of the years I've known them. Unfortunately, their son didn't turn out like them! LOL!
